FIT MATH

Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.

-Albert Einstein-

We often lose sight of the fact that different academics subjects are all branches of the same tree—EDUCATION!  What we love about the above quote is how it weaves together three critical components of education (Math, ELA, and Logic) into one seamless fabric of knowledge.  At Fit Learning, it is our belief that being competent in mathematics not only makes a student numerically strong, but it also supplements all other key areas of study.

When children are using their fingers to add and subtract, it is limiting the brain productivity and inhibiting that broad-based thinking process.  We teach math facts to a level of fluency, eliminating any need to use fingers or rely on calculators.  All the while, we continuously provide positive reinforcement, enabling children to develop a more favorable attitude toward mathematics.

The Fit Approach

Our approach is guided by research, which shows a building block approach.  In other words, for students to readily learn the more complex operations, they must first master the basic skills such as: reading numbers, writing numbers, place values, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rounding, etc.  In our definition of “Mastery,” accuracy alone is insufficient, as speed/efficiency is an equally-important part of this equation.  After all, if we expect mastery in reciting the alphabet, why should we hold other skills to a lower standard?

Fit Math Results

Students who complete our math curriculum become truly proficient at retrieving math facts, without having to rely on scratch paper, mental math, or use of fingers.  Our unique approach to mastery of math facts builds a solid foundation for:

  • Increased Accuracy of Calculations
  • Effortless Calculations for Daily Life Skills (Money and Time Management)
  • Easier Understanding of Advanced Math (Algebra, Calculus, etc.)
  • Improved PSAT, SAT, and ACT Scores
